History:

In 1908, already had 49 years of his life meaningful Ústí entrepreneur and marketer of metal goods , Mr. Heinrich lumpy. He was a passionate friend of nature and birds, renowned ornithologist not only in Ústí nad Labem and in other cities, but even far beyond , for example, in certain Italian regions. From the village of Usti nad Labem he bought the site of a former brickworks Mariánské skály, of which he knew to be a place of frequent occurrence of small birds and founded a private natural bird sanctuary known as Lumpepark . His intention was to give the birds a living in the city of peace for nesting and food security through the winter, to the rest of the birds offer a place to relax with plenty of food during spring and autumn migration. The inspiration for the founding of the natural park for him among other was the American industrialist Henry Ford in Detroit , who was an enthusiastic nature lover. The park covered an area of 6 hectares and gave great job before he was finished off in a balanced and natural work of art . For the construction of which a large amount of stones , often 30-40 q heavy , from Thuringia were imported 20 cars tuff , which were created many hundreds of hiding places for bird nests and artificial depressions with water. He made in the park fabulous caves and a miniature castle, which is the only preserved until today. Over the years, Mr. Lump enriched areas of the reservation with dozens of bird houses, the roe field was planted many hundreds of pieces of coniferous and deciduous trees, including ornamental shrubs and flower, and many rare and unusual rosttlin. He built in the whole park cascades and waterfalls at the bottom adorned the picturesque valley pond with a fountain, the water used the so-called Marian spring. In 1914 he decided to open the park to the public because he wanted to serve all comers, but especially young people, in bringing the love of nature. After the first World War there was a booming industry, coupled with the acquisition of land for the construction of factories, but in defense of the park and its vicinity stood the general public. Mr. Lump continued cultivation of the park, in the spirit of the garden architecture and contemporary fashion. The surroundings were delivered Trutnova fossilized prehistoric tribes araukárií and build them a stone forest. The selected part of the park was maintained contemporary horticultural treatment ( Rose garden , lotus pond ) and have them deployed in various Fairy scenes ( Hansel and Gretel , Little Red Riding Hood , Krakonoš holding hands on the girl and others). In 1936 Mr. Lump died , so the inheritance of his works, which he gave a huge effort and considerable financial resources enjoyed the whole 28 years! His descendants of natural tendencies had, nevertheless, thanks to the dedication of the gardener and other park staff, continued to exist and maintained its level. Then came the second World War II that changed the lives of many people. The changes also affected Lumpepark . After the war, it became the property of the Czechoslovak Republic. At the time of the reservation it became a mini-zoo, where Ústí residents and visitors from other cities could spend their free time. The level at that time was not high, because the estuary was important at that time to recover and deploy the war-torn industries and functions of the city. Gradually, however, there were built new cages and paddocks and the area of the zoo began to increase. Due to expansion in 70 years, the park has grown to almost 30 ha today. They started to build new pavilions , which were accessible to visitors from which the animals were not separated by traditional bars, but modern glass. This is the pavilion of beasts and exotic animal pavilion , where they were placed rare species . At the top of the zoo were built large enclosures for rhinos , giraffes , elephants , zebras and antelopes, but it is quite another story from the life of Usti zoo.
